Fundraising

You will need between $7-10 million to win. Of course, quite a bit of the money will come in at the end from DSCC if you really have a shot, but it will take at least $2-4 million to get in a position where it looks like you have a shot.

The #1 fundraiser is the candidate. Most donors give money after they have been called 4 times.

See if it is possible to have a phone surgically installed into the candidate's ear.

Suggestion: every donation method should include a space for the donor to enter a short message too. For example, I just donated in honor of a friend's birthday. I would have liked to write "In honor of Brian Behlendorf's 33rd birthday" along with my donation, but there was no space to put that, either on the main online donation form or via the PayPal link. It is not necessarily important that the campaign actually read all those little messages, but it can be psychologically important for donors to feel that they are not just another wallet. Space for personal messages is one way of achieving that (and in fact it may be valuable for the campaign to browse the messages now and then, just to see what's causing people to donate).
